Mike Baker
Commander - Marines

Mike Baker was installed as VFW Post 670’s Commander in June of 2020 and will continue serving as Commander through 2023. Mike was elected to the position of District 8 Commander in June of 2022.

Growing up in Wisconsin, Mike was first introduced to the VFW at his grandfather’s post in Milwaukee (closed in the late 1990’s due to a fire) where he was active with the VFW Auxiliary until moving to his hometown of Antigo, Wisconsin.

Upon returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom I, Mike joined VFW Post 2653 as a Comrade in September of 2003. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Bulk Fueler from September 2000 to Oct 2008 completing four combat tours and earning the rank of Sergeant.

Mike then moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina in October of 2008 and found a new post home at VFW 670 in February of 2010 where he has served as Post Trustee (5 years), House Committee Member (2 years), Post Adjutant (3 years), and most recently reelected as Post Commander for 2021-2022. He currently is a Bronze Legacy Life Member (May 2021), a Life Member (2014), and a Member of Pup Tent 24 of the Military Order of the Cooties since 2016.

Mike has been married to his wife Jeannie for 19 years and they have two sons: David (18) and Jon (12). While running his own company, Lone Wolf Marketing, Mike studied Marketing & Business Management at FTCC. After leaving the USMC, from 2009-2014, Mike also worked with the Target Corporation and Goodyear Tire and Rubber here in Fayetteville, NC.
