Amelia Smith
Quartermaster - Air Force

In July 2021, Ms. Amelia Smith was appointed as Post Quartermaster and continues to serve through 2023. Born and raised in Micro, North Carolina; most of her adolescence was spent on dirt paths, two-lane roads, and tobacco fields. At the age of 17, a broke teenager, and tired of her daily routine, Amelia dreamed of seeing the world and made a life changing decision. She joined the US Air Force in late 1988. Amelia devoted 26 years to the US Air Force until her retirement in 2014.

Amelia's deployments include: Southwest Asia; numerous deployments to Saudi Arabia, and twice to both Afghanistan and Iraq.  One each tour to Afghanistan and Iraq were with the US Army.  During deployments, she worked hand in hand with all branches of the US military, as well as militaries from around the world.  She is a Lifetime VFW member and transferred to this post in late 2019.

After retirement, Amelia became a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she worked in numerous facilities and private homes caring for individuals, primarily the elderly.  She graduated from Columbia Southern University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in human resource management.

Currently, Amelia is a dedicated volunteer with the Cumberland County Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program and has been since 2015.  As a volunteer with GAL, she ensures that children in the custody of Cumberland County Department of Social Services, have their voices heard in court.  The goal of a GAL is to be an objective, fact gathering volunteer, and make sure the decisions being made by the court are in the best interest of the child(ren).

Amelia is the oldest of 6 and is used to organized chaos. Her only child is an English Bulldog, Chief.  Amelia, as a VFW member and the post Quartermaster, is ready to help make VFW Post 670 an integral part of the local community and a safe place for our Nation’s Veterans.
